The Department of Mathematics and Sciences was established in 2014 along with other departments of Engineering. The Department of Mathematics and Sciences at GP Nayagarh is a center for research and teaching composed of academics from five different disciplines: Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Application. With its varied range of teaching interests and expertise, the department promotes interdisciplinary work in humanities, mathematics, and sciences, offering teaching and supervision aimed to attract students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds. Indispensable to engineering and the sciences, this range of subjects plays a central role in academic life at GP Nayagarh and our department offers you the opportunity to explore these fascinating subjects. The Department has five faculty members who teach a range of courses in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Application. The department possesses a well-equipped language Laboratory. By teaching the basic courses in mathematics and science, the department is responsible for the quality of education for all engineering students at GP Nayagarh. We utilize our expertise in applicable areas of mathematics/science and our interdisciplinary connections in the construction of a curriculum that gives excellent support to educational activities across the institution and prepares students for success in a wide range of careers both in academia and beyond.
We seek to encourage students to view science holistically as a domain of human knowledge which is not in isolation from, but in productive dialogue with society and culture, and with other areas of human production. The department has been conceptualized with this vision of foregrounding the interfaces between science, society, and culture, and of initiating a dialogue between the natural sciences, the social sciences, and the humanities. The M&SC department thus aims to foster critical thinking, creativity, interdisciplinary study, and scholarship.
The department of Mathematics& Science is committed to inculcating competence and expertise in the students in the field of basic sciences, technology, and personality development so that they can think critically and communicate clearly. The department is dedicated to providing fundamental education through experimentation in a diverse and interdisciplinary field.
