The admission process is conducted through the Diploma Entrance Test (DET) by the Directorate of Technical Education & Training, Odisha, Cuttack. Eligible candidates can apply online based on their marks during the 2nd or 3rd week of April each year. Reservations for seats are available in various branches according to government norms, which may change from time to time.
The online application form for all diploma courses can be found on the websites www.dtetodisha.gov.in/ and www.samsodisha.gov.in. Candidates should fill out the form accurately and submit it online by the specified deadline.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION TO3RDSEMESTER DIPLOMA IN ENGINEERING/TECHNOLOGY UNDER LATERAL ENTRY

To be eligible, candidates must have completed the +2 Science Examination from CHSE, Odisha, or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM). Alternatively, candidates may qualify with a +2 Vocational (2-year course) in any Engineering Trade, or by completing a 2-year ITI in an Engineering Trade or COE Trade, along with passing the HSC examination conducted by BSE, Odisha, or the 10th standard examination recognized as equivalent by BSE, Odisha. |
The minimum age is 14 years; there is no upper age limit (For Mining & Drilling Engineering: Minimum age is 16 years and no upper age limit). |
**Important Notice:**
The list of 10th standard/HSC examinations from other boards that are recognized as equivalent by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, is available on its website at www.bseorissa.in and www.dtetodisha.gov.in.
**A.** In cases of compartmental pass, the marks obtained in the first attempt of the examination will be used to calculate the merit percentage at the qualifying examination.
1. Candidates must pass the +2 Science Examination from the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha, or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM), or complete a 2-year Vocational course in any Engineering Trade, or a 2-year ITI (Industrial Training Institute) program in Engineering or COE (Centre of Excellence) Trade, along with passing the HSC examination conducted by BSE, Odisha or the 10th standard examination recognized as equivalent by BSE, Odisha.
2. Students who have completed a 2-year ITI program in Engineering Trade or a 2-year Vocational course in any Engineering Trade are eligible for 80% of the seats for Lateral Entry into any discipline of the Diploma Engineering Programme. The remaining 20% of the seats are available to +2 Science pass-outs with PCM for Lateral Entry into the Diploma Engineering programme.
3. For candidates in under Matric 2-year ITI Engineering Trade courses, it is required that they have passed the HSC examination conducted by BSE, Odisha, or the 10th standard examination recognized as equivalent by BSE, Odisha at the time of applying for admission to Diploma courses under Lateral Entry.
4. For candidates in the COE Trade, they must have completed one year of Basic Business Training (BBBT) and a 6-month Advanced Module. A completion certificate for the Specialized Module issued by the concerned Principal must be provided.
5. Candidates who have completed a 2-year dual system training in an engineering trade, approved by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), are also eligible for admission to Lateral Entry.
6. The percentage of marks shall be calculated by dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all subjects (regardless of optional or additional optional subjects) by the total maximum marks of all subjects.
**Supernumerary Seats:**
1. 5% supernumerary seats are available in each branch for eligible Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) candidates.
2. 10% Economically Weaker Section (EWS) supernumerary seats are available without disturbing the existing reservation percentages.
3. Two supernumerary seats in each branch/course at each institute are reserved for candidates under the PM CARES for Children Scheme-2021, who have lost both parents during the COVID-19 pandemic and have received a PM CARES certificate.

B. Admission under Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) Scheme:
Sons and daughters of parents whose annual income is less than Rupees 8 lakh, or the amount fixed by the government from all sources, shall only be eligible for seats under this scheme.e.
C. Admission under EconomicallyWeakerSection (EWS) Scheme:
Individuals who do not qualify for the current reservation scheme for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and whose family has a gross annual income below a specified limit, may be eligible for consideration. These candidates must submit a deposit in line with those applying under the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme. Additionally, these applicants are required to provide an Income and Asset Certificate issued in the prescribed format by the competent authority in Odisha.
D. Change of Branch:
Students admitted in the 1st Year in any branch shall have to continue in the same branch. However,change of branch is permissible during 1st year on the basis of inter-se merit of the students within the institution considering his/her performance in the HSC (10th) examination.Theinstitutions are authorized to allow such changes before end of May without exceeding thesanctionedstrength ofanybranch.
NB: Students admitted under supernumerary seats shall not be allowed to change their branch to whichthey were originally admitted.
