Welcome to the Department of Electrical Engineering, Government Polytechnic, Nayagarh. The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in the year 2014.. It aims at producing qualified engineers in the areas of electrical machine, power electronics, control system, power system, and instrumentation. The field of Electrical and electronics is advancing at a very rapid pace. Power electronics has taken the center stage in every area be it power systems, control systems, power quality, etc. The department is well equipped with a group of highly qualified and dynamic teachers. It boasts of laboratory facility to be one of the best in the state. The students are encouraged and motivated to take up challenging projects. Summer training, industrial visit and projects are carefully planned for the students to remain updated with the technology trend. Seminars and short courses are regularly organized to update the students with the latest in the education and industry trends.

Electrical engineering offers programs in both electrical and electronics domain and provides wide range of fundamental scientific knowledge. The well qualified and experienced faculties have taken up the dare developing competent electrical engineers capable of facing the emerging challenges. Keeping in line with fast changing technologies, this department comes up with well equipped laboratories for developing the practical knowledge they need and follows outcome based education curriculum. To develop entrepreneur skills and to equip students with innovation and creativity, Electrical engineering department has first taken priority in imparting a friendly learning environment.

The department has the following well equipped labs to cater the needs of the diploma students

  • Empowering Electrical Professionals with strong ethical values, sound technical knowledge and unique set of skills which will enable them to a rousing start to fulfill the future demands and needs of the industry and society to achieve sustainable development.

Mission:

  • M1: - To align the teaching learning process and to provide basic foundation for the students to adapt to the changing industrial needs.
  • M2: - To provide an atmosphere of Independent learning where they can be nurtured with qualities like leadership, responsibility and optimistic.
  • M3:- To update the curriculum and learning materials in consultation with industry professionals to make students industry ready.
  • M3: - To enrich with the latest developments through seminars, guest lectures, workshop and industry visits through interaction with industry professionals
  • M5:- To develop professional competency and technical expertise individually and through team effort thereby exhibit leadership in industry

The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

PEO 1: Students are able to apply knowledge of basic science, computer fundamentals and basic principles of electrical engineering.

PEO 2: Students are able to enhance their analytical and problem solving ability using theoretical and practical knowledge to solve real time problem in electrical domain.

PEO 3: Students become adaptable to work in multi-disciplinary environment through continuous development of technical skills, professional efficiency.

Programme Outcomes:

  • PO1:-ENGINEERING KNOWLEDGE: Inculcate and apply knowledge of Basic mathematics, Science and Fundamentals of Electrical engineering
  • PO2:-PROBLEM ANALYSIS: Ability to identify, define and analyse complex electrical engineering problems and to reach reasonable solution using principles of basic science and engineering.
  • PO3:- DESIGN/DEVELOPMENT OF SOLUTION: Ability to design system components or processes to fulfill Socio-Economic and Environmental needs.
  • PO4:- MORDEN TOOL USAGE: Ability to improve efficiency and accuracy through appropriate usage of modern engineering and ICT tools within limits
  • PO5:- ETHICS: Ability to utilize moral, professional ethics and responsibilities in engineering practice.
  • PO6: ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY: Understand the impact of environmental challenges and develop solutions to mitigate them to achieve sustainable development
  • PO7: PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND FINANCE: Apply the principles to be accountable for completion of socio-economic project within specified budget and time period

  • PSO1:- Ability to apply domain knowledge in testing and maintenance of electrical machine and equipments .
  • PSO2:- Ability to prepare design and estimate of various electrical installations.
  • PSO3:- Contribute for the generation and utilization of green energy to meet the increasing demand of the society
